India Inspiration

Returning visitors to the Kenroy Home showroom this past Dallas Lighting Market would have noticed a dramatic departure from Kenroy Home’s typical collection of introductions. Straying away from their string of contemporary and transitional design releases, the designers at Kenroy Home drew inspiration from the classic and rich cultural heritage of India.

Detail One Light Pendant

Not only are these stunning fixtures inspired by Indian design culture, they were also manufactured directly from the source of inspiration – “In order to achieve the look we were after, it seemed only fitting that we’d manufacture using the materials and skill of India” says product designer Michael Miler-Riley. This is of course a stark departure from recent industry manufacturing methods where products that are decisively western in appearance are created in far east countries such China. Kenroy Home’s recent introductions are produced where they were inspired.

Focusing on the rich heritage of metalwork and craftsmanship found in India, Kenroy Home’s design team focused on rich copper tones and texture techniques such as hammered metal. The “Detail One Light Pendant”is an exceptional representation of a Kenroy Home design piece crafted in precise detail to go far and above a simply mimicked piece of Indian metal craft work. This pendant features a wide 16" diameter shell constructed of warm toned copper - an exceptional piece for the kitchen or dining room.

Dervish 1 Light Sconce

In addition to a new line of pendants and mini-pendants manufactured in India, Kenroy Home has also released a series of complimentary sconces - notably the "Dervish One Light Sconce", featuring a polished nickel body with striking brass accents. The over sized 13" frame creates a shimmering focal point for both contemporary and earth toned home decor themes.

Seville 1 Light Pendant

Rounding out the collection of unique Indian inspired pieces is the "Seville  1 Light Mini-Pendant"; designed as a companion piece to the best selling Seville Table Lamp - Seville features a sought after Moorish design theme. The pressed filigree metal introduces an interesting array of light leaks - this effect is increasingly noticed when suspended closer to the ceiling height.
